Kathie is married to Dave and lives in Broadstone, together they have a light engineering company in Bournemouth where Dave works with four employees, whilst she does all the administration at home in her ‘spare time’! She has three grown-up children - the eldest, who lives in Stafford has two step-children and her younger son lives near London and has three step-children. Her daughter lives in Poole and has two children, and as she work full-time looking after them is another of her ‘spare-time’ activities. Her main hobby is walking and when Dave retires they hope to walk the Wessex Ridgeway from Ashmore in the northeast of the county to Lyme Regis in the southwest - a distance of over 60 miles! Since 1994 she has been an independent member of the Dorset Police Authority and also represents them on the board of Crimestoppers and on the Community Safety Working Party of Poole Borough Council. As an Authority member she is Chair of the Lay Visiting Committee, a body of people who are responsible for doing spot-checks of police custody suites to ensure that detainees are receiving their rights in accordance with PACE. This responsibility has recently taken Kathie to conferences in London and Belfast. She was a founder member of the re-formed OBA committee in 1993, serving as the Newsletter Secretary for four years during which time she produced 12 editions of the Newsletter.
