In 1977. Mr W J Paulley, then sports master and later counsellor at The Blandford School, arranged a cricket match between Old Boys of the school and the staff. This became an annual fixture. In later years, other games were arranged for the Old Boys team against local clubs.
These games proved so popular that, in 1989, the O.B.C.C. was formed. |

| The clubs main objective is to provide cricketing enjoyment for local people of all ages and abilities. We also try to maintain the sportsmanship traditionally associated with cricket - when played in the right spirit, it is a great game. Dorset Cricket is organised into separate Saturday and Sunday leagues and O.B.C.C. have teams in the Saturday and Sunday competitions, with some friendly matches on Saturdays. Anyone interested in playing should contact Ian Milne, on 01258 - 451826. Details of our fixtures can be found on fixture posters displayed around the town by our advertisers. O.B.C.C has formalised closer links with the Old Blandfordians Association and indeed with the Blandford School. We see ourselves as being able to provide the all-important link between School and Club at a local level, and encouraged by the increased popularity of Cricket and emphasis on Sports at The Blandford School. |

O.B.C.Cs policy on qualification is that Players must either live, or have lived in Blandford or attended or taught at any of the Blandford schools, which is looser than the OBAs membership policy, but still with a local emphasis. We have become fully affiliated to the OBA and are glad to have your support. I am extremely honoured to have been co-opted onto your committee. |
